WOMAN BURN DUE TO HEADPHONES EXPLOSION

Australian authorities issued strict warning pertaining to the using of the battery powered equipment and  devices on flights which was flying to Australia , a woman's headphones unknowingly caught fire.Now question is what is the root cause of this incident?First of all lets see how did this incident occur?

This flight was going to Melbourne Australia from Beijing,during its normal flight the said woman was partially sleeping.When she was dozing suddenly heard explosion sound and consequently she woke up immediately.She at once removed headphones when she saw that head phones sparkling,and catching the fire and ultimately it began to melt.As a result of this fire and explosion she got her face blackened and there were blisters on her hand.According to the statements of passengers ,she was listening to the some sort of music at the time of this incident.All aforesaid information were given by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau which is commonly known as ATSB. She further told to the ATSB that due to continuous grabbing of my face the head phone came to my neck.Due to fire i continued to feel burning around my neck and my feeling kept on increasing ultimately i had to throw off that headphones on the floor.When i threw them off on the floor at that time they were sparkling and there was a little bit fire over there.  


On seeing the sensitivity of incident the respective members of flight crew at once rushed to help and control the situation.Eventually they put out the small fire efficiently  by pouring a bucket of water on the said burning headphones and ultimately they distinguished the fire successfully. After some time it was found that the battery and its plastic cover had melted due to fire and stuck to the floor.Rest of the flight passengers and crew staff had to endure the smell coming out from melted plastic and other electronic material till the landing of flight .All the passengers were coughing and choking continuously during the entire journey to home  .It was revealed in a report prepared by ATSB. This report did not disclosed the the name of the brand of headphones,however it was revealed that aforesaid fire broke out due to lithium-ion batteries and it was probability not certain cause. 

Keeping in view aforesaid incident ATSB has published very important set of security measures and  guide lines for secure and  safe travelling with batteries and power pack.Such type of books may be very helpful in reducing or eliminating this type of incidents in future.Not only this incident,already a number of problems have been observed related to the lithium batteries on flights.Now it the time to address the issue on high level as well as lower level.Similarly in the last year a plane was about to take off from Sydney (Australia)  that all of sudden smoke was seen coming out from hand luggage and eventually said flight had to be stopped.On observation it was found that as already mentioned, that smoke was coming from lithium batteries placed in that hand luggage.In the same way an electronic device was crushed under the moving seat and consequently it began to emit smoke .In addition to this many other incidents are noted at various places all over the world of similar nature.In 2016 such types of many cases were recorded for instance Samsung Note 7 were provided with malfunctioning batteries and these batteries caused of over heat in many smart phones and eventually they caught fire and ultimately melt due to burning.It was a great shock for Samsung because this type of incidents created vert bad perception regarding Samsung and its graph of reputation definitely came down in mass market, all over the world.Due to aforesaid incidents  particularly those happened on planes ,many international authorities have banned strictly on such types of devices.Now a days Note7 which were causes of fire,its production have been abolished.

 Let's come to the some remedial and safety measures in ordered to save and protect our selves from such type of incidents.

 (1) Make sure that batteries should be placed in proper secure and safe stowage

 (2) Carry on baggage should be used for spare batteries

 (3)If ant smart phone falls into the seat gap of plane then try your best to locate it,other wise never move powered seat and inform to respective cabin crew for further necessary action

 (4) A comprehensive booklet or pamphlet should be published regarding the all safety precautions these information should be brought in the knowledge of all passengers as well as crew cabin.
