WOMEN AND SOCIETY

It is an irrefutable fact that any society in the world can never make progress in the world without proper involvement and participation of women as we already know that women is the integral part of developed and modern society. In the  past ,women were given status  inferior to men.They were debarred from  taking part in outdoor activities as well as social life .Their sphere of life and activities as limited to domestic work and there was banned on their jobs and external work.In ancient time  it w women were considered the servants of homes of their husband Even women were not allowed to participate in political and social activities and administration. According to the French famous philosopher Rousseau   ,who was also unmarried once said 

''The dignity of woman consist of being unknown to the world-her glory is esteemed of her husband;her pleasure the happiness of her family ;But time created new situations and the old out look under went a change.But now the time has really changed ,it is the time of information technology and progress .women are playing a significant role in the progress and development of country all over the world Any society cannot go with the time without the participation of women.Women are playing their respective role according to the situation and requirement

In the recent past  women have come to take more and more prominent part in maximum sphere of life .In some respect they have excelled men for instance the role of Hiba Rahmani in NASA as a air controller is the best example of woman ,who is performing a crucial role in USA in her department .In the same way  game/sports intellectual and artistic pursuits ,in office and industry,they have set a new record of honesty and efficiency.Teaching and nursing is considered the best department for women as they are already serving in this department with full concentration,devotion and dedication They have succeeded marvelously teachers and nurses.The great poet of English literature and history Gold smith  made a complaint two centuries ago in the following manner 

'' women famed for their valour ,their skill in politics,or their learning,have left the duties of their own sex in order to invade the privilege of ours ''.This is what the women .

We can see all over the world that there is practically no field where women are not competing with men. In professions like,out door life and law they claim their performance is equal to men,in different type of professions like business,trade,industry,in the learned professions,in politics,administration,scientific research, literary artistic,activities.Eve in making herself felt every where .They are serving meritoriously  police and military,officers.They are working as a sale girl,as air hostesses and as a clerk and steno typist.They are turning out men from the post of personal secretaries successfully.With the passage of time  we have to get more and more use to the idea of seeing women working side by side men in riding,driving,flying,playing,even fighting.Even if we take the example of Pakistan we have women athletes ,women cricket team.,hockey team,writers,leaders administrators.They are fast discarding veil/pardah and taking to active out door life.Law has endowed to women a status equal to that of man.In nearly every democratic country ,women have the right to vote.All the women over the world have proven that they are not less than men in any walk of life.They are the part and parcel of our society.

It is commonly said that many thinkers particularly majority  of the muslims do not in the favor of the idea of women taking an active part in public life and in the jobs/ profession.According to their argument  and logic they claim  that biologically women's function is quite different from man's,she has to be mother and as a mother she have to play multi dimensional role at a same time Women are not suitable for every job due to their peculiar physic and nature.They are too delicate to perform arduous duties of life.The real greatness of women lies in her role as mother.It is rightly said ''The hands that rocks the cradle rules the world '',the mother who can bring up the right sort of  children is really a great benefactor of society.Islamic society gives a very respectable position to women and no body can deny the importance of mother in every religion all over the world  particularly in Islam.According to the holy teaching of great holy prophet who said ''verily paradise lies under the feet of your mother ''.It is the universal truth and it is as a mother that she can best serve the nation.

But it is clear that women will not return to their homes.The modern woman argues that she can be a good mother and at the same time a good doctor a writer or administrator.It is the height of selfishness for men,who fully appreciate it in their own case the great advantage of good education.to deny these advantages to women .There is no valid argument by which the exclusion of the female sex from the privilege of education can  be defended.It is argued that women have their books and have little time for attending to management of of their household .Of course it is possible for women,as it is for men,to neglect necessary work in order to spare more time for reading sensational novels.But women are no more liable to this temptation than men and most women would be able to do their household work all the better for being able to refresh their minds in the intervals of leisure with a little reading .Nay education would help them in the performance of the narrowest sphere of womanly duty
