DONALD TRUMP'S FOREIGN POLICIES AND PATRIOTISM
Before the commencement of my ideas,views, feelings and thinking regarding the patriotism, first of all i would like to define the patriotism briefly Patriotism means love for one's own country.It is a sublime and noble instinct:it is created with our birth and develops with our growth with the passage of time .Love for one's country is a natural and positive thing and it is necessity of the time .We survive in it:we breath its air ;we drink its water and eat its food and we enjoy its rights freely.Even if we observe the life of jungle animals with curiosity and meticulously beasts also love their own homes like human being.Traitors always looked down upon by their country men due to their negative role and deeds and those heroes who suffer or die in a patriotic cause always exalted with respect,honor and dignity by their fellow men.Patriotism always generate bravery and valiantly in a man and he/she never becomes reluctant to sacrifice .Patriot always serves his country with full devotion,dedication,.It enables him to face grave dangers with full courage and patience.It makes a man sacrifice ,pleasure,and hope of gain.Surely patriotism is desirable and the absence of it deplorable.
Despite, positive aspects of patriotism it has dark consequences too.It has certain adverse effects and dangers.First it often makes a man narrow minded and unfair.A patriot finds no faults with his country because he becomes blind in the love of his country.It is commonly said that some time excess of love for country in the form of patriotism makes a man blind and deaf .He can neither bear nor tolerate the criticism on his country.To Pakistani every thing Pakistani is good,in the same way ,to the English every English thing is faultless and admirable.This attitude helps us to develop contempt towards all other countries.Now a days the policies and attitude of USA president Donald Trump towards Muslims countries and community also falls in this category .Donald Trump's ban on 7 Muslim countries is mouth speaking proof of his animosity,prejudice on religion basis.Apparently USA president seems to be adore with love for his country in the form of patriot but in fact he is cutting out his country from all over the world particularly from Muslim world.Despite decision from supreme court which was antagonistic to the policies of Trump's government,Mr president still insisting on his policies and he is reluctant to accept the order of supreme court,If we observe all this situation and scenario in the perspective of Donald Trump's role and thinking we come to the conclusion that basically Trump is patriot for his country,and this patriotism has made him blind from the consequences of his policies It is irrefutable fact that all the Muslims are not terrorist as Trump thinks.A huge strength of Muslims in America playing very important role in the development of country.In addition to this Islam is spreading in America very rapidly because people are studying Islam religiously and converting to Islam overwhelmingly,This matter may be of great concern and anxiety for Trump.Let me again come back to my actual topic that is pertaining to patriotism and its effect.The commencement of German national song open with this ''Germany over all ''is full of glimpses patriotism. Similarly Japanese place themselves at the top of the list of nations which indicate their patriotic thinking.
All the wars are fought won with the moral of patriotism and Patriotism is there at the back of all wars of aggression and all forms of imperialist.Imperialist Russia ,Imperialist USA and Britain and India are examples in regard.The great dictator of Germany Hitler exploited the patriotism of the German youth and in the same way Mussolini behaved with Italian youth.Similarly the young soldier of Japan would be shot from cannon for the sake of his empire.These examples prove that Patriotism thus leads to war and aggression.People cut each other's throat with out any remorse in the name of patriotism which is a matter of great concern and shame for humanity.Patriotism seems to be a justification of every kind of international crime,every kind of offence against humanity.
There are a lot of adverse effect of patriotism with in the country .According to the Dr Johnson who once defined patriotism in his words as ''The last refuge of a scoundrel ''.Many culprits and wicked persons turned into patriots in order to save and escape from the consequences of their evil deeds and character .To complete their wicked design,The selfish ambitious join the patriotic parties for their own interest .They flourish on the sentiment of the patriotism and disguise themselves in the shape of patriotic.Under the flag of patriotism they think that they are free to do whatever they like good or bad.
Excessive patriotic feelings is necessary and apt to make a man a dreamer or an idealist in his locality a well as on international level.He is unable to set a proper value on the practical aspects and requirements of politics but it carried off his feet by his feeling.excitement and emotions.Such patriots often become a positive source of danger.and adversity.Compromise is entirely eliminated from them and they do not familiar with the importance of a compromise and its vital role in the affair of men.We can better under stand this by imagining the role and example of Brutus in the Roman history .
In the end i have come to the conclusion in the scenario of aforesaid my own views that patriotism is not enough in this century and should not confined to the limitation of country.One may love one's country which is natural but along with this, one should try his best to develop and enhance an international out look.Like Donald Trump we should not try to divide the world into parts on religious bases.Trumps immigration and foreign policies is in actual an attempt towards the division of the world in the form of Muslim and non Muslim and this is not patriotism at all. We can love the Americans,the Russians,or the Chines without,even to Pakistani, ceasing to be patriot .True patriotism should never go against internationalism.To save himself from these dangers ,a man must always remember that he is first a human being then a citizen of some country.On the basis of humanity we should pay respect to each other without any malice and prejudice.
